Kim Kardashian admits she was jealous of other women’s “little baby bellies” when she was pregnant

Even Kim Kardashian is just a human (yes, really!), and even she isn’t immune to our culture of body shaming and body negativity. On her website and app, Kim K shared her struggle to love her body during pregnancy, and it was all too relatable.

Kim K’s always wanted to be body positive.

“Having a positive self-image has always been important to me because it affects so many aspects of my life: my work, my relationship with my husband and my life as a mom.”

But it’s not always so easy, the star admits.

Her confidence plunged when she got pregnant.

“After I had [North] there was a part of me that was nervous about whether I’d be able to get back to anywhere near my pre-pregnancy weight and feel confident again, since I was now 50 pounds heavier. I was so jealous of women who had these cute little baby bellies and would gain 25 pounds—and then, a few weeks after giving birth, somehow look exactly like they did before they were pregnant.”

Like many women, Kim K was freaking out about returning to her pre-baby weight. It makes sense considering how much we obsess about who “got back” to their normal weight post-pregnancy.

She learned to love her new body, and was so much happier.

“After 10 months, I felt like I was even better than before. I was curvier. I really felt like all the hard work paid off.”

Working out and taking some time out to take care of herself really helped her re-learn to love her body, post-baby curves and all.

And things changed for the better with Saint!

“The second time around, it was easier for me to embrace the changes. I loved finding looks that showed off my pregnancy curves.”

It’s so important that Kim K is speaking out about how even she has dealt with being so hard on her body, and the journey to self-love. After all, it’s a common issue, and the more we talk about it, the more we can find solidarity and confidence in who we really are: so much more than our bodies.

And when we’re struggling to love ourselves? Sometimes the best response is to throw our middle finger up at our own body hate.
