She’s 20 years old, works in a hardware store, and her debut track is amazing

Help: This blossoming songstress already has us by the ears.

Meet Kiiara, the young genius whose song you’ll be trying to choreograph a dance to for the next six hours.

The 20-year-old singer-songwriter works at a hardware store in Illinois and, evidently, makes some pretty incredible music.

Her infectious debut single “Gold” is glitchy enough to rival James Blake’s “CMYK” but still maintains a beautiful balance between electro-pop and R&B. It’s spliced, smooth, and, as with many of the tunes Felix Snow produces, unexpectedly sensual. Ooh la la.

Though “Gold” premiered on Fader last week, Kiiara is already making quite the entrance. Within the last 24 hours, “Gold” caught the attention of Chloë Grace Moretz on Twitter and shot to number one on Hype Machine. Not too shabby for your first ever single . . .

Safe to say, Kiiara is stunned.

If all of this positive feedback is any indication of Kiiara’s musical trajectory, we have a sneaking suspicion that her days in the hardware store are numbered. We can’t wait to see what else this gal has cooking in the studio.

While Kiiara’s first EP, Meet Me In The Cornfield, is underway, we’re just gonna keep playing “Gold” until we’re blue in the face. Be sure to keep up with Kiiara on Twitter and Soundcloud!
