This kiddie cover of “Gangsta’s Paradise” is so much cuter than we ever thought this song could be

Proving that toughness and tenderness can peacefully co-exist inside of a single individual, here’s a group of kids covering Coolio’s “Gangsta’s Paradise,” courtesy of Free Dad Videos. Needless to say, this is probably our most favorite take on Coolio’s classic rap song. That’s no shade to Brittany Snow, who once rapped “Gangsta’s Paradise” on Ellen, but the adorable level goes up a million notches whenever kids do stuff that makes it seem like they understand what it means to be an adult.

Now that we’ve given them their cute credit, can someone explain to us why kids can’t relate to Blockbuster Videos or other outdated forms of technology but they can totally connect with an old-school rap song? Maybe it’s the lull of the guitar playing in the background, the enchanting chorus, or the use of the word paradise, which the kids wrongfully associate with something fun and zippity do dah-ish.

We’re really baffled by it, but we’re even more confused by the fact that these kids rapping Coolio’s lyrics strangely works for us.

They clearly have no idea what the song is about as they casually cuddle their toys and have a ball during bath time, all while rapping hard-hitting lyrics like “I’m the kinda G that little homies wanna be like.” Actually, that’s a pretty fitting line (because we would totes hang with these kids), but it still doesn’t exactly reflect the song’s original meaning.

But that’s a good thing! We don’t want these kids to grow up too fast now, do we?
