There’s a kickstarter for the world’s biggest pizza fan

Scott Wiener has the best job title in the world, “Professional Pizza Enthusiast.” That’s really what he does for a living. Wiener knows so much about pizza, he actually hosts walking tours in New York City where he shares his pizza knowledge with residents and tourists.

He knows so much about the doughy, cheesy delicacy that now there’s a Kickstarter in place to actually get Weiner’s story made into a full fledged documentary, so hopefully he can teach us his ways and we can all put “Professional Pizza Enthusiast” on our business cards one day.

The planned documentary from Ryan Jones and Shawn Willis of Notice Pictures, and currently titled Scott’s Pizza Tours, explains on their Kickstarter page that, “we’ll experience the world’s most beloved food, through the eyes of the man who loves it most.” Because for Weiner, it’s not just about the pizza itself, but about the history of the pizza place, and how the pizza’s made, and then of course how the pizza tastes. Plus, Weiner not only leads walking tours about pizza, but he also runs Slice Out Hunger, an event that supports hunger relief organizations in NYC, and he’s the Guinness World Record holder for the largest collection of pizza boxes. So clearly, this guy know his pizza stuff.

Weiner also limits himself to only 15 slices of a pizza a week, which is incredibly impressive considering how immersed in pizza he is ever single day. “For every slice I go over,” he says in the Kickstarter preview, “I subtract two from the next week’s allotment.” Dang, impressive. We might need him to teach us his pizza will-power ways.

The Kickstarter just launched and its got a month to go before its deadline. They’re looking for $35,000 to help fund the film. Perks for bakers include pizza journals to keep tab on your own slices (yes), and private pizza walking tours (double yes). So what are you waiting for? Weiner’s living the best pizza dream ever, and it’s time to bring that to the big screen.

In the meantime, if you’re around New York City you can check out one of Scott’s tours for yourself. He even offers a private pizza party on wheels for you and 31 of your closest friends. Yup, count us in.
