All the tears: ‘Key & Peele’ is ending

Soon, we’re going to be laughing a little bit less. According to the Key part of Key & Peele, this upcoming season of their show will be their last. We’ve had a good five years with these guys, and now it’s time to say goodbye. However, before you start crying too hard, this news does not mean that the two are parting ways, or even leaving television.

In an interview with The Wrap, Keegan-Michael Key explains that he and Jordan Peele decided that it was time for them to “explore other things, together and apart.” All episodes for Season 5 have already been shot, and the guys have known Key and Peele would be ending for a while. Key figured now was the time to break our hearts.

But, don’t fret! These two aren’t breaking up with each other, and definitely not with us, their dedicated fanbase. They’ve still got loads of other projects in the works. Together, the guys recently finished shooting the movie Keanu, which is not about Keanu Reeves, but instead about two friends trying to retrieve a missing cat. And just this summer, we’ve already seen Key in both Pitch Perfect 2 and Tomorrowland, and he’s going to be in the upcoming Vacation reboot, too. As for Peele, he’s going to play someone brand new to Camp Firewood in Wet Hot American Summer: First Day of Camp.

Key then reassures us one more time, this isn’t the end of Key and Peele productions. Oh no, far from that. “We’re doing the reboot of Police Academy, and there’s a TV show in the works that me might do for Comedy Central,” he continues, “There’s lots of stuff we have cooking up.” Peele even Tweeted, too.

While we’re super sad to see Key & Peele go, we’ll always have Luther the Anger Translator. He’s pretty good at dealing with our emotions.
