Kevin McKidd wants Sandra Oh (aka Christina) to return to “Grey’s Anatomy” and we 100% agree

After what feels like EONS, Grey’s Anatomy is finally back tonight (September 22nd)! Okay, so eons might be a bit of an exaggeration, but the show has been off our telly boxes since May and that’s waaay too long for a fix of Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital.

Of course we’ve definitely been watching it while the show has been on hiatus (who else dips into their favorite episodes when the show isn’t on air?), and we’ve been seriously missing some of the old characters, like George (?), Izzie (?), and, of course, Christina Yang (?).

And, it seems, we’re not the only ones, too.

Kevin McKidd, who plays Dr. Owen Hunt on the long-running ABC medical drama, has said that he’d LOVE Sandra Oh, who plays Christina to return.

Now, you might remember that at the tail-end of last season, Owen could be seen getting married to Amelia Shepherd (played by Caterina Scorsone), the troubled younger sister of the late-Derek Shepherd (? ??).

Owen had previously been embroiled in a dramatic and emotionally intense relationship with Christina, and the pair had even married following the shooting at the hospital.

However, this hasn’t stopped Kevin from going on record to talk about how he’d love to have Yang back.

"I'd love it if she came back," he told Digital Spy. "I think she might eventually for fun, for maybe a couple of episodes. "I don't think she'd come back for anything long term, but who the hell knows?"

OMG – the thought of Christina returning to Seattle, even if it is just for a few episodes, is the stuff of our dreams! We would LOVE to see her reaction to Meredith’s new life post-Derek (?????), and we bet she’d have some opinions about both Amelia and Meredith’s long lost sister, Dr Maggie Pierce, who is played by Kelly McCreary.

Kevin went on to say that he still sees Sandra all the time and he even talked to her about his character’s recent storyline and marriage.

"She was joking, but she was a bit like, 'you didn't tell me you were getting married!'" he said. "You left, Sandra! She's happy for Owen, really. I think she's happy he married another Canadian actress."

Grey’s Anatomy is just about to start its 13th season, and things look like they’re gonna be SUPER dramatic (but, then, when aren’t they, eh?).

Earlier this year it was reported that the upcoming episodes would focus back on the original characters, including Meredith Grey (played by Ellen Pomeo) and Alex Karev (played by Justin Chambers).

So, this season does seem like the perfect time to bring back a couple of old favorites, like, say, Christina Yang. This is Grey’s Anatomy after all, and anything is possible…
