Kevin Bacon parodies Tom Petty on “The Tonight Show” and it’s amazeballs

If you’re feeling at all down today, worry not — we have something that’s going to lift your spirits WAY UP.

Last night, Kevin Bacon appeared on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon in a segment called, “First Drafts of Rock,” a Behind the Music-esque parody that “goes back in time” to discover the original versions of famous songs.

Bacon slapped on a bandana, grabbed his guitar, and dazzled us with an EPIC Tom Petty impersonation, belting out the “original” version of “Free Fallin” (with Jimmy on backup, of course).

As if that wasn’t already awesome enough, the situation gets even better when we begin to realize that while the song starts out pretty regular (“She’s a good girl, loves her mama, loves horses, and America, too”) it soon devolves into verse after verse of Kevin Bacon/Tom Petty singing about this girl’s insane horse obsession.

Take a look!

We’re not sure what we’re most impressed with: Kevin Bacon 100 percent committing to putting on a wig and costume, learning the words to an entirely ridiculous parody, or just the fact that he never broke character even once.

That, friends, is the mark of a true professional! Also, we can’t stop laughing.
