Kesha posts an Instagram of her in the studio with Zedd, our hearts go pitter patter
It’s been a long, long couple years for Kesha, as the pop star has been entangled in a legal battle to be released from her recording contract with her former producer and alleged abuser Dr. Luke. Earlier this year, a judge denied Kesha’s request to be released and her case against Sony Music was subsequently thrown out. Through these deeply upsetting developments, the #FreeKesha has gained steam, including among celebs like Lena Dunham and Adele. But here is some good news, finally: according to a new Instagram post, Kesha is recording again with the producer Zedd.
“[I]t’s a miracle when someone gives you a chance at finding your voice again with no reason other than that he is a fucking beautiful person with a heart of gold @zedd #truecolors,” Kesha wrote in the caption of a black-and-white Instagram featuring herself singing in the studio. Aaaaaand we’re pretty teary over here.
It’s unclear what project Zedd and Kesha are working on. However, it’s possible that this is the first time she has recorded new music since her battle with Dr. Luke began. The Instagram also comes less than two weeks after her surprise performance at Coachella, which was the first time she performed in public after the judge’s denial of her request.
Earlier this month, Kesha also shared that she rejected an alleged settlement offer that would give her her freedom if she were to publicly state that the sexual abuse did not happen. “I got offered my freedom if I were to lie,” Kesha wrote on Instagram. “I would have to apologize publicly and say that I never got raped. This is what happens behind closed doors. I will not take back the truth. I would rather let the truth ruin my career than lie for a monster ever again.”
Kesha stuck to the harrowing truth and although she’s gone through more than anyone should ever have to, it looks like she is now getting her life back, bit by bit. We stand with Kesha and can’t wait to see the incredible things she’ll do with Zedd in the recording studio!
