Kesha’s message to her body shamers just won all our applause
Despite the harrowing legal battle Kesha has endured with Sony Music and her alleged abuser Dr. Luke, she still manages to inspire her fans in a myriad of ways. First, Kesha performed a captivating rendition of Lady Gaga’s “Til It Happens to You” at a recent gala for the Humane Society of the United States. Shortly afterward, Kesha took to Instagram to speak out against body shamers.
In photo taken at the event, the 29-year-old singer wrote, “byeeeeeeee haters and body shamers bye byeeeeeee I’m hot when my ass is big. I’m hot when it small. GET OVER IT.”
Last year, Kesha opened up about her battles with an eating disorder in an interview with Vogue. “It’s been quite a journey. [With the criticism], I went to a dark place. There was a lot of not eating — and I started to think being hungry to the point of feeling almost faint was a positive thing,” she said.
Kesha’s bold post is proof of how far she has come and how she lets absolutely nothing stand in her way. Her fans certainly take notice, as they sent praise following their “queen’s” brave statement. “That’s the TRUTH,” commented one fan, while another wrote,“Honestly, Kesha is kind of my role model.”
A few hours prior, she took aim at the controversial thigh gap trend. “No thigh gap here. Just a shit ton of balls,” she wrote in the Instagram shot.
This isn’t the first time Kesha has called out haters and body-shaming trolls. In March, she posted an empowering photo of herself in a bikini with the caption, “Not a slave to perfection right now. fuck it. body shamers please fuck off ain’t nobody got time for it.”
When it comes to her music, Kesha has been kicking ass amid the legal setbacks. She recently collaborated with music producer Zedd on the song “True Colors” and has announced she’ll be touring with Diplo’s Mad Decent Block Party festival this summer.
