Kesha just posted a beautiful Instagram to share her excitement about tomorrow’s Billboard Music Awards
The 2016 Billboard Music Awards are quickly approaching and Kesha is definitely feeling the heat. The “True Colors” singer is scheduled to perform and today she posted a photo that shows just how nervous she is about her first televised appearance since her ongoing legal dispute with Dr. Luke.
It was previously announced that Kesha would NOT be performing, with Dr. Luke’s label reportedly blocking her from taking the stage at the show. After some back and forth, Billboard announced that Kesha was in fact performing at the award show and all of her fans are anxiously waiting to see what she sings and how the performance goes (we’re sure it will be awesome). The biggest ball of nerves however, is the artist herself based on her social media post that reads, “nervous and excited for tomorrow eeeeeeeeee.”
The drama all began when Dr. Luke’s label, Kemosabe, reportedly said that the 29-year-old singer couldn’t perform at the Sunday show. When the news hit, Kesha took to Instagram and shared a blurry photo of herself and a caption describing her intentions for the show.
“I just wanted to make very clear that this performance was about me honoring one of my favorite songwriters [Bob Dylan] of all time and has never had anything at all to do with Dr. Luke. I was never going to use a picture of him, speak of him or allude to my legal situation in any way,” part of the post read.
On Thursday things were finally cleared up when Dick Clark Productions released a statement to Billboard announcing that the issue had been resolved and Kesha had the green-light to perform this weekend.
“We are pleased that Kesha and Kemosabe Records have reached an agreement and very much look forward to having Kesha perform on the Billboard Music Awards this Sunday night on ABC,” Dick Clark Productions said in statement.
“Kesha’s performance on the Billboard Music Awards was always approved, in good faith. Approval was only suspended when Kemosabe learned Kesha was to use the performance as a platform to discuss the litigation,” the statement read. “Now that Kemosabe has obtained assurances, that it is relying upon, from Kesha, her representatives and Dick Clark Productions that neither Kesha nor her supporters will use the performance as such a platform, the approval has been restored.”
