Kendall Jenner did NOT want *this* filmed on “Keeping up with the Kardashians”
It seems like only yesterday that we were watching tiny versions of Kylie and Kendall Jenner in the first few years of Keeping Up With The Kardashians. Can you even believe it was almost a decade ago (exactly nine years ago to the day as of TODAY, to be *completely* precise) that the very first episode of the series premiered? It was the year 2007. Kendall was 12 and Kylie was 10 – two little girls who’d later grow up to be a supermodel and a makeup mogul, respectively.
LOOK HOW LITTLE THEY WERE. So adorable.
In the last few years, Kendall has appeared on the show more infrequently than she did as a kid – busy being a ridiculously successful supermodel and what not – but she recently posted an update on her app remembering her earlier years on the reality show. She reflected on one of the roughest aspects of being filmed near-constantly for her family’s unscripted series – though we can imagine there were PLENTY of things that were tough to deal with when you’re a teenager literally growing up on-camera.
Specifically, Kendall remembered one thing that she really, REALLY never wanted to be filmed doing by the Keeping Up With The Kardashians camera crew – her homework.
As first reported by Teen Vogue, the future supermodel wrote that she would refuse to allow the cameras on her while she was doing schoolwork. Apparently, she would “beg the camera crew to leave her alone and not film her.”
Yikes. Given that these folks were hired to follow the Kardashian-Jenner clan at nearly all times to collect footage for the ~drama~ filled series, we can’t imagine they listened to her pleas.
Kendall recalled one particular instance in which she was actively trying to escape the cameras. "When Keeping Up started filming, I specifically remember running around our cottage-y style house in green jeans and a white polo shirt," she remembered. "I was doing my homework and the crew was filming me. I said something like: 'Just leave me alone, this isn't even entertaining!"
That is BEYOND aggravating. We can only imagine how annoying it was to never get a moment’s peace. Luckily for Kendall, she figured out a way around the filming – to escape into her bedroom.
"Any time I needed to do my homework, I'd lock myself in my room and they'd let me do my thing," Kendall explained.
So, in that sense, Kendall was really like any other teenager at the same age – her room was her sanctuary. It’s just that, instead of hiding out in there to avoid parents, she was hiding out in there to avoid a full camera crew. ~Slightly~ different kinda thing.
As tough as this must have been to tell with, the memories must be poignant for Kendall now that there’s a chance the show might not come back. KUWTK has been put on indefinite hiatus following Kim’s traumatic robbery.
