Kelly Rowland got real about what happens to your “vajayjay” after giving birth
We all know that giving birth can take a toll on our bodies, but rarely do women truly share the nitty-gritty details of their experiences. In an interview with USA Today, Kelly Rowland dished on life after giving birth, and she gives it to us STRAIGHT.
"Your vajayjay does not look the same for a very long time," she said.
In fact, Rowland feels so strongly about the physical changes after childbirth that she co-authored a book with her OB/GYN called Whoa Baby! A Guide For New Moms Who Feel Overwhelmed and Freaked Out (And Wonder What the #*S& Just Happened). In the book, she describes examining her vagina with a mirror after giving birth to her son Titan…and how it was “the world’s worst idea!” Oh no. But also, LOL.
Can we just take a moment to feel grateful for Rowland’s honesty? Because this does not happen enough.
This stuff may feel inherently awkward, but we shouldn’t be afraid to talk about anything body-related — everyone goes through changes “down there,” whether it’s during childbirth or due to other reasons. In the interview, Rowland went on to share her feelings about the ‘vajayjay’ and how jarring the appearance and feel of it can be after giving birth.
"We go to get it all done up and trimmed and waxed and this and that and it’s all swollen and crazy and you’re just wondering what just happened?"
Having a swollen vagina definitely sounds painful, but we’re thinking the whole getting an adorable little baby out of the deal makes it all worth while. And it goes without saying, but Rowland and her son are so cute together!
We can’t wait to read Rowland’s book and get more insider info about motherhood and normal, everyday body stuff.
