We’re totally digging Kelly Clarkson’s version of “We Shall Be Free” by Garth Brooks

Is there anything Kelly Clarkson can’t do? If you thought “country music,” you’d be wrong. Kelly Clarkson covered Garth Brooks’s “We Shall Be Free” at Nashville’s Ascend Amphitheater on Monday night, and she totally killed it.

It’s always a joy to see American Idol winners do covers (since hey, that’s how we were introduced to them) but to have Clarkson — one of the show’s most popular and successful figures — cover a song these days is just an honor.

The night was put together to honor Brooks, who just achieved a high accomplishment — he currently has seven diamond-certified LPs, which is more or less incredible. Multiple celebrities were there to pay their respects to the legend, but not everyone got to go onstage and sing.

“I’m just a Mom, I haven’t worked in awhile,” Clarkson joked while setting up the song. But, she quickly got back into singer-mode, and belted out the tune beautifully.

Clarkson seems to be absolutely glowing, and having the time of her life!

But of course, that’s not all — Clarkson also got on stage with musician Steve Wariner for an amazing duet.

We seriously can’t wait until Kelly Clarkson goes on tour again. In fact, we might bookmark the Ticketmaster page for easy access once she announces she’s back on the road!
