Kelly Clarkson, Kelsea Ballerini & Carly Pearce Uniting For “Powerful” CMA Performance

The trio will give a live performance of "You're Drunk, Go Home" for the very first time.

Fresh off her “Subject to Change” album release and headline tour, Kelsea Ballerini is gearing up to perform at this year’s CMA Awards and with the help of her two very close (and very famous) friends: Carly Pearce and Kelly Clarkson. I think I speak for country music fans everywhere when I say this is about to be one of the most iconic CMA vocal group performances in years.

According to TMZ, the trio is “planning a very big and powerful performance” of their hit song “You’re Drunk, Go Home,” track No. 12 off Kelsea’s new record. The scream-sing ballad was a crowd favorite among concert goers. Pearce and Ballerini even surprised fans with a lively duet of the song during the Chicago stop on Ballerini’s Heartfirst Tour.

The CMA Awards, however, will mark Ballerini’s first-ever live performance of “You’re Drunk, Go Home” with both Pearce and Clarkson.

“You’re Drunk, Go Home” is much more than a GNO, late-night drinking anthem for Ballerini, Pearce and Clarkson, all of whom have gone through very public breakups in the last two years.

Clarkson filed for divorce from her then-manager and husband Brandon Blackstock in 2020. The two were married for seven years and share kids River and Remington. That same year Pearce’s whirlwind romance with country music star Michael Ray came to an end as well.

Days before dropping “Subject to Change,” Ballerini announced her divorce from singer Morgan Evans. In an interview with “CBS Mornings,” she described the split as that of two great people who just aren’t great together anymore.

“It just didn’t work,” she said. “That sometimes is a difficult narrative to get your head around when you’re just like, ‘Oh my gosh, this is a good person and I’m a good person and this just isn’t good anymore.’”

“Kelsea was there for me through mine. I’m there for her through hers,” Pearce told Entertainment Tonight of being there for her bestie. When it came to “You’re Drunk, Go Home” chatter, Pearce was all smiles. “Kelly just is the queen, so let’s go,” she beamed.

Tune into the 2022 CMA Awards on Wednesday, Nov. 9 at 8pm ET on ABC.
