Kelly Clarkson nails a T-Swift approved cover of ‘Blank Space’
Last Tuesday, Kelly Clarkson gave concert fans a surprise when she covered Rihanna’s “Stay” and NSync’s classic “Bye Bye Bye.” Now, it seems that the Queen of Covers has even further solidified her title.
On Saturday, Kelly Clarkson deviated from her usual set list to treat her Toronto fans to a cover of Taylor Swift’s “Blank Space,” and (spoiler alert) it earned her more than just a couple thousand screams from the audience.
Yep. Taylor Swift loved Kelly’s cover so much, she tweeted it to her 61 million Twitter followers. And for the record, we’d do the same . . . y’know, if Kelly Clarkson reworked our pop song into an R&B masterpiece.
Her tour, Piece by Piece, closes out in Vancouver B.C. on October 17, but we have a feeling we’ll be reporting on more than a few Kelly Clarkson cover gems before then. Last week, Kelly told her Buffalo, New York audience, “We do a fan request every show, letting someone in the audience pick a song for us to cover. It’s a lot of fun for me and the band because the shows can become monotonous, and this keeps us on our toes.”
We have no idea how much time she has to prep for these cover songs but DAMN does she know how to work them!
