It happened: Kelly Clarkson covered the best ’80s song of all time

Since kicking off her Piece by Piece tour, Kelly Clarkson has been treating her fans to a magical row of cover tunes (ERRRHEM, check her renditions of “Blank Space” and “Stay“). Now, it seems the indisputable Queen of Covers has won hearts again with an ’80s song—make that THE BEST ’80s song.

Last Saturday, Kelly treated her Salt Lake City fans to a powerful rendition of Bryan Adams’ 1984 hit, “Heaven.” The tune came to Kelly as a fan request, but the songstress chose it for a very sweet and sentimental reason.

“I chose this one because this is my husband’s — one of his favorite songs,” she told the crowd. “And he’s here tonight.” I know it’s Monday, but can we all get a collective “daaaaaaw!”?

As per usual, Kelly added her powerhouse touch to the ’80s pop ballad, making it more riveting and more heart stoppingly gorgeous than we could’ve ever imagined. She has a knack for that, doesn’t she?

Kelly’s Piece by Piece tour will close out in Vancouver B.C. on October 17, but we have a feeling we’ll be reporting on a few more buzz-worthy cover tunes before tour’s end.

For now, you can indulge her flawless cover of “Heaven,” below:
