Keegan-Michael Key and Seth Meyers test out their most awkward pickup lines
Let’s pretend for a second that Keegan-Michael Key isn’t a hugely successful comedian with a hilarious TV show (and ties to President Obama). And for another second, pretend that Seth Meyers doesn’t have his own late night TV show, along with years and years of SNL under his belt. Let’s just pretend that they are two guys, out at a bar, during last call. These two are about to try out their best pickup lines… except that their best pickup lines are actually the worst, which is what makes them hilarious.
Key stopped by Late Night with Seth Meyers last night, and the two tried their hand at the bit, “One O’clock in the Morning.” What’s it about? Oh, just two guys out at a bar, trying to be as suave as possible. But for these two, they’ve clearly been out of the dating game for quite a while (and besides, both of them are married). Even though they’re trying their best, there’s a lot of giggling going on.
They use lines like, “if you were a vegetable, you’d be a cute-cumber.” And Meyers would be an… eggplant? Also Key wants to know if you have tickets to the gun show, but he respectfully declines your plus-one invitation, even though he approves of “your second-amendment right.” There’s also some yelling “HEY! HEY!” which is always the best way to get a lady’s attention (No, it’s not).
