Katy Perry and Taylor Swift proclaim “peace at last,” and fans think it means more than just the end of bad blood

Has the world ended? Did hell freeze over? Katy Perry and Taylor Swift have seemingly buried the hatchet on their long-standing feud, as evidenced by a plate of cookies Perry shared on her Instagram page. Atop the pile of chocolate chip cookies, “PEACE AT LAST” is written in frosting and Swift is tagged. And Perry even labeled the post’s location “Let’s Be Friends.”

So…are we all good? Or…?

To catch you up to this point, their beef allegedly started when Perry began flirtations with John Mayer in 2012 after Mayer had supposedly dated Swift for a few months in late 2009 and early 2010 (this could also be a classic case of the media pitting women against women over a man, but sure). Before this point, Perry and Swift were cordial—friends, even. But when Perry began seeing Swift’s ex, things took a turn.

The John Mayer thing may have been the catalyst, but Perry and Swift also reportedly battled over turncoat backup dancers during their respective tours. Both pop stars even wrote songs about their infamous feud—Swift wrote “Bad Blood” in 2014 and Perry released “Swish Swish” in 2017.

However, Swift and Perry have been rebuilding the bridge they’ve burnt for most of 2019. Last year, Perry literally sent Swift an olive branch and an apology note, and more recently, Swift added Perry’s new song “Never Really Over” to her Apple Music playlist.

For those who have been paying attention, it’s not a total shock that the stars have finally restored their friendship. But wow, the confirmation feels good.

For others, it’s still a lot to take in right now.

Does this public declaration of forgiveness mean that something is in the works?

Some fans are certain we’re about to have a Perry-Swift collab dropped on us. Swift is a big fan of Easter eggs, so some fans are thinking the track name could even be “Peace at Last” or “Let’s Be Friends.” We’re ready, but we’re still going to have a minor heart attack if and when it happens.

They better say something soon because we can already feel the heart palpitations starting. false

Keep an eye on the horizon, people. Something is brewing between these former enemies. And obviously, whatever that is, it’s going to be amazing.
