Katy Perry’s surprise for Orlando shooting victim on “Ellen” will make you openly weep
The Ellen DeGeneres Show started its fourteenth season earlier this week and while the celebrity guest lineup is proving to be a star-studded one, this is definitely the most heartwarming and inspirational guest to grace the Ellen stage in quite some time.
Tony Marrero, one of the brave survivors of the Orlando shooting at Pulse Nightclub back in June, sat down and spoke with Ellen about the night that changed his life forever and how exactly he found the strength and inspiration to get through the horrifying ordeal. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uTR9sWuhHyw
When Ellen asked about the song he listened to a lot to stay strong, Marrero told her, “‘Rise.’ The lyrics to that song are so powerful, every word is so powerful, so I embraced it. It’s beautiful.”
We totally agree! Katy then surprised Tony and with tears in her eyes, gave him a huge hug and sat down with him.
“I just want to say thank you for everything you do. Your lyrics to that song helped me from the day that I was in the hospital all the way to now. You’re amazing,” he said.

The 31-year year old “California Girls” singer told Marrero, “I heard that you’re creative just like me and you have dreams and you want to go out there and do good and fulfill them. I heard that you want to go to film school so I personally want to pay for your first year at film school.”
HOW INCREDIBLE! Ellen also donated $25,000 to the foundation benefiting the Pulse victims and gifted Marrero with a private screening of Finding Dory.
Alright, can someone pass me all the tissues?
