Katy Perry gave Orlando Bloom’s cute nickname a shoutout during her concert, and cue the awwws

Don’t you just love a cutesy couple name? They’re always some adorable combination of “b” sounds (bae, baby, babe, bubba), and if said in public immediately makes everyone within 10 feet very uncomfortable. However, a couple with cute, creative pet names probably has a strong relationship, and if Katy Perry’s nickname for Orlando Bloom is an indication of anything, it’s that these two are the real deal.

During a tour stop in Tokyo, Japan, Perry introduced one of her love songs with a glowing send-up. She told the audience: “This next song is about being so loved and so seen that you never ever have felt this feeling before.” She then launched into a performance of “Into Me You See” and dedicated it to her “bubbadoo.” Fans immediately guessed that this “bubbadoo” she speaks of is Bloom. Maybe the phonetic spelling is more accurately “Bubby due,” but regardless, how cute is that?

Perry even has a bracelet that says “bubbadoo” and it’s pretty adorable. You can see photos of it here.

Fans at the show spotted Bloom in the audience, and clearly, he was having the best time.

Apparently one of the reasons why couples typically have “b” sounding pet names is because it’s one of the first consonant sounds we learn as infants. Frank Nuessel, Ph.D., revealed in an interview with Good Housekeeping that it also explains why we call a couple’s secret language, “baby talk.” Scientific American also reports that “couple speak” is an indicator of a happy relationship, that the more made-up words a couple uses, the better their home life likely is.

Perry and Bloom have kept their relationship on the down-low since reportedly reconciling earlier this year, so who knows…Bubbadoo could be Perry’s dog, or something? (Sure.)
