For the most part, celebrity couples love to keep their romances on the down low. But one celeb took secrecy to a whole new level. Katy Perry surprised Orlando Bloom with a party for his 40th birthday! Please hold your applause, because that wasn’t the end of that adorable story. Katy also surprised Orlando by getting his mom to come to the Palm Springs birthday party as well. Feel free to dab at your tear-filled eyes now.
As has been noted, the couple has been together for a while. Katy and Orlando became Instagram official in May by posting a hilarious photograph and later vacationing together. Seems like they have a tradition of partying and looking amazing.
As can be seen from the above photo, Orlando Bloom could not have been happier to see his mother. Katy did a great job! Such a thoughtful and personal gift. She gets ultimate girlfriend points with that one, for sure. Another detail to keep in mind — guests wore onesies with Orlando’s face on them. Makes you wish you were on the guest list, right?

Katy posted an Instagram video showing guests singing “Happy Birthday” to Orlando while he blew out the candles on a cake. Additionally, the cake had a life-size owl on it and the words “Happy Birthday Lando.” Awww.
As an “it” power couple, Katy Perry and Orlando need to keep a low profile in order to keep everyone out of their business. It is way too easy for paparazzi to get photos of them together on vacation. Which is why when Katy Perry surprised Orlando Bloom, it was so brilliant! Not only was the guest of honor surprised, but so was the media. This birthday did seem comparatively low-key to the ‘50s-themed sock hop Katy Perry threw for herself earlier this year.
Can we dare hope that a secret wedding is also in the mix for the happy couple? A lot of celebs have done that in the past. We should all keep our eyes open for the next few years!
