What happened when Katy Perry took over Hillary Clinton’s Instagram
Yesterday, Katy Perry joined forces with Hillary Clinton, and it was a patriotic sight indeed. At Hillary’s campaign rally in Des Moines, Iowa, Katy did a set, decked out in red, white, and blue as she performed “Firework” and, of course, Hillary’s go-to campaign song, “Roar.”
Katy urged viewers to get out and vote. “You have so much power and this is one of the most important elections in over a decade. So much change can happen,” Katy said to a roaring crowd last night. “I stand and I march with Hillary. I believe in her future, her vision. I believe in her policies. I believe in equal rights for men, women, pay…Thank you for having me, she’s my firework.”
“And you know, sometimes it’s important, you just have to roar about what you need to fight for!” Hillary said on stage after Katy’s performance.
In fact, Hillary let Katy roar on her Instagram by taking over the account. Snapping a shot of her new 2016 Hillary nails, Katy wrote, “. . .taking over Hills’ IG today for the rally in Iowa. The stage is set, and the nails are pressed. T-minus 1.5 hours before we Roar together.”
But that wasn’t all Katy posted. Behind the scenes, she also encouraged her niece to create some Hillary artwork:
And, of course, they had to get a selfie, being the kindred spirits they are.
And finally, since Hillary’s birthday is tomorrow (and Katy’s is today — again, kindred spirits!), Katy decided to get her a birthday gift that she believes tells the future:
It’s just been a musical kind of weekend for Dem candidates . This weekend, Bernie Sanders stopped by the Rockin’ the Bern concert event.
We’re super jealous of this awesome friendship, but hey, at least we can watch Katy’s performance below! Check it out and watch Katy and Hillary roar.
