Katie Holmes released her inner mermaid at the Met Gala
The Met Gala has arrived — and so have your favorite stars, impeccably styled in creative fashion honoring Japanese designer Rei Kawakubo, founder of fashion brand Comme des Garçons. And if you are keeping up with Met Gala arrivals on social media, you’ll know that Katie Holmes looks stunning on the red (beige) carpet, wearing a deep teal off-the-shoulder gown designed by Zac Posen. The gorgeous look evokes one our favorite mythical creatures, with textured fabric (almost like fish scales???) forming a train reminiscent of a mermaid’s tail.
The mermaid gown features a charming sweetheart neckline and flouncy sleeves, adding some playful notes to a seriously glamorous dress.
The look is accented by the actress’s sparkling choker, raindrop earrings, and blue eyeshadow.
Can we spend a few more moments admiring that train, though?
Katie walked the carpet with Posen, the gown’s designer.
Posen shared a snap on Instagram before the Met Gala began, and Katie’s mermaid vibes fit right in with the surrounding plant life.
And Katie teased the look on social media, too.

Katie Holmes most recently appeared as Jackie O in The Kennedys After Camelot miniseries, and we can next see her on the big screen in Logan Lucky, Coup d’Etat, and Ocean’s Eight.
But until then, we can watch her radiate mystical sea creature vibes at the Met Gala!
