Katie Holmes wore a fire-red ballgown that would be a great prom dress

Is there anything more romantic than going to the ballet? We imagine visiting while dressed to the nines in a dress in a full skirt, and perhaps a basket of flowers in hand. The appeal of dressing up for the event is almost as good as the actual ballet! To prove our point, we have Katie Holmes, who wore the most majestic gown to the American Ballet Theatre’s Spring 2017 Gala.

Katie Holmes’ bright scarlet gown featured the fullest ballerina skirt we’ve seen in a long time.

And with a layered bodice and contrasting burgundy stitching, this Zac Posen piece may actually outshine the costumes! Oh, and did we mention it has pockets?

Katie wore her brown hair in a chignon, another style ode to the ballet. And by picking a smoky eye, the actress lends a darker feel to the vibrant gown. We love the contrast of the dark eye with the nude lip. Classic, statement-making. and oh so Katie!
