Katie Holmes’ outfit is a reminder that the Canadian tuxedo trend will outlive us all

Proving once again that denim-on-denim is a look that will never die, Katie Holmes rocked a Canadian tuxedo while out in Los Angeles this week. And despite temperatures in the millions (at least, that’s what it feels like), Holmes had a smile on her face — probably because she knew she looked fab in her off-duty outfit.
The actress paired paint-splattered, ripped-knee boyfriend jeans with a tucked-in button-down denim shirt, and finished off the look with some chunky-heeled sandals — ideal for a long day of shopping and running errands. Holmes looked both comfortable and put-together, and her choice of light, loose threads was ideal for the sweltering hot day.
Holmes, a busy mom to daughter Suri and star of the forthcoming Ocean’s Eight film, has long been a fan of the double denim trend. That’s not surprising, considering the look is easy to pull together, but is still chic enough to make it seem like you actually put some effort into your ensemble.
In the on-the-street snap below, Holmes is seen wearing a Canadian tuxedo on the streets of New York in 2013.
She tends to prefer the look in the summer, wearing it in June 2012, as well as June 2011. She even donned the look on the August 2014 cover of Glamour, proving she’s the ultimate advocate for the trend.
If Katie’s not proof enough for you that double denim will forever be in style, know that young “It Girls,” including Bella and Gigi Hadid, as well as actress Zendaya and Victoria’s Secret model Daniela Braga, are also fans of the look. Canada 4ever.
