Netflix’s new Kathy Bates sitcom is jumping right to the top of our must-binge list
Netflix picked the perfect day to drop the trailer of Kathy Bates’ new comedy, Disjointed. It had never occurred to us before, but now we know there’s nobody we’d rather spend 4/20 with than Kathy Bates
The show is a half hour sitcom from Chuck Lorre and David Javerbaum. Chuck Lorre’s name probably sounds familiar because he’s the mind behind Two and a Half Men, The Big Bang Theory, and many other comedies. David Javerbaum is a former Daily Show head writer, so the pedigree of Disjointed is already pretty impressive, tbh.
Check out the video announcement below! Make sure you have the time and space you need to openly laugh, or be prepared to embarrass yourself.
The show will premiere on August 25th, and obvi stars Academy Award Winner Kathy Bates. In addition to Bates, the series stars Tone Bell, Aaron Moten, Elizabeth Alderfer, Dougie Baldwin, and Elizabeth Ho.
According to Netflix, it’s about:
"Ruth, a lifelong advocate for legalization, is finally living her dream as the owner of an Los Angeles cannabis dispensary, Ruth's Alternative Caring. Joining her are three charismatic "budtenders", her entrepreneurial twenty-something year old son and a very troubled security guard."
Kathy Bates is always amazing, but lately we feel like we’ve mostly been catching her in dramas. Since one of the more iconic roles from our childhoods was def Kathy Bates as Miss Hannigan in Annie, we’re excited for her to have an opportunity to exercise her considerable comedic chops. This is a momentous 4/20 indeed.
