Katherine Heigl opened up about life with the new baby and why meticulous scheduling is so very important to her
There’s a lot going on in the ranch-style home of Katherine Heigl and her hubby Josh Kelley right now. They’ve got farm animals roaming around, two gorgeous daughters, and one newborn little boy!
In an interview with People, Heigl introduced her son Joshua Bishop and emphasized the important role that scheduling plays in her life these days.
Basically she’s a self-proclaimed planner, “one of those people who really thinks, I have to schedule, I have to plan this out.”
Our environment changes so often. I feel like the more order I can keep in their [her kid's] day, the more structure in their day, the happier they are, the more at ease everyone is, because they know what to expect. For me it's really just about trusting my own gut and my own instincts and what works for my family."

But sometimes life throws a curveball…like the time she found out she was pregnant just as she went back to work on her show Doubt! Her reaction at first was, “oh, shit,” though her current attitude about the situation and its challenges is very healthy.
"But now we have a new normal, and I have to give myself a break in order to get used to it."
It certainly is a big and exciting change, as Joshua is the couple’s first biological child. By the sound of it, he’s transitioned well and everything is going swimmingly. Little Joshua is super lucky to be joining this clan!
We totally get what Heigl is saying about the need to be prepared for things ahead of time, and it never hurts to master some basic organization skills.
Yeah it might sound boring to whip out the calendar or use a planner for everything, but it also tends to make everything easier in the long run.
Think about it, there’s less chance of double booking yourself, and the best part about planning your time is planning your off-time. That’s right, you can schedule playtime as well! Very important.
Thanks for giving us a glimpse into your world, Katherine. We can’t wait for glimpses of the little bub. Hint hint.
