Kate Winslet’s “Titanic” screen test is too adorable
Before Kate Winslet became the mega-famous, super successful actress she is today, she actually had to really, really work and go through drastic measures to get the roles she wanted. And she REALLY wanted the role of Rose DeWitt Bukater in Titanic. In fact, she wanted it so badly, she called director James Cameron on his car phone (lol) and basically told him he’s an insane person if he didn’t cast her. In an interview with The Rolling Stone, according to Cosmopolitan, Winslet said, “[James] was on the freeway, and he said, ‘I’m going somewhere.’ And I think he pulled over, and I said, ‘I just have to do this, and you are really mad if you don’t cast me.’”
She also sent him roses with a note that read, “From your Rose.” Hey, girl knew what she wanted.
And Winslet was SO obviously the best choice. If you need proof, just watch the Titanic screen test, which was uploaded to YouTube in 2012: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=
Just look at her looking at Jack. The love is POURING FROM HER GAZE.
And before you say it, yes that is the original Jack — Jeremy Sisto.
He’s pretty dreamy, but he’s not the Jack Dawson we melted over in 1997.
But anyway. Back to Kate Winslet playing Rose. She is too, too perfect. The hesitation, the sound of privilege and fright and curiosity in her voice is so on point. Winslet knew Rose through and through.
Aren’t you glad you made the right decision, JAMES?
