Kate Winslet and Leo DiCaprio’s love will go on and on (in our hearts)
Sunday was a big night for Kate Winslet and Leonardo DiCaprio, who took home the Golden Globes for Best Supporting Actress and Best Actor in a Drama, respectively (fingers crossed for that Oscar Leo, this is your year!) The real winners, however, were the millions of viewers who got to see Jack and Rose from Titanic reunited. It was a beautiful, beautiful moment.
The two actors who starred in the classic 1997 film about a fancy ship hitting an iceberg together were seen chatting and hugging during a passing crowd. And this shot instantly became a highlight of the show.
Unsurprisingly, the Internet exploded. Reaction tweets fell into two main categories: the “omigod look how cute my heart is melting” variety…
And the “godammit Rose the raft was big enough for both you” variety.
Basically, the incident revealed that we all still have a lot of suppressed feelings about Titanic.
The pair have remained close friends in the nineteen years since they made Titanic, and reunited onscreen in the 2008 film Revolutionary Road. DiCaprio even adorably flaunted their friendship on the red carpet. When asked about Winslet on Sunday, he told Entertainment Tonight, “she’s my favorite actress in the industry.” And this was before oh so causally adding, “She’s actually hanging out with me tonight. We’re gonna go to the after parties together.” Umm, can I come too?
And Winslet returned the favor, telling ET, “he’s very cool. He’s a pro. We’ve been through a lot together. We’ve grown up.” So not only do they admire each others talent, they also tackle Hollywood after parties together.
Awww. We will always ship Jack and Rose (pun not intended).
