Kate Middleton’s red coat with gold buttons is exactly what our February wardrobe needs
The Duchess of Cambridge wore her most festive Valentine’s Day outfit during a visit with the Royal Air Force yesterday, and she looked absolutely stellar. Wearing a red coat with gold buttons, Kate Middleton smiled, laughed, and ran drills with a crop of young cadets in Peterborough, England, brightening up an otherwise overcast day.
As the royal patron — and an honorary air commandant! — of the RAF Air Cadets, Middleton has visited the cadets three times since becoming the organization’s patron in December 2015. Her coat, from Philosophy di Lorenzo Serafini, suited the occasion — cozy enough to keep her warm on a chilly day, and bold in a festive red for Valentine’s Day.
“It’s incredible to have such a high profile royal as our patron, said 17-year-old Cadet Sergeant Jordan Bertalaso of the visit. “Especially as she has strong links to the Royal Air Force with her husband being a former pilot. Being sat in the aircraft feels like such a blue now, but I remember that she was really interested in the controls and seemed keen to learn.”
Pairing her coat with black skinny jeans and her new favorite Stuart Weitzman boots, Her Royal Highness was ready to take on any task that came her way.
Like jumping around with the cadets…
…or climbing into a propeller airplane while looking like the world’s most elegant and fashionable royal.
Flawless.
Her chic coat retails for $1,515 and is available now from Net-a-Porter.
It’s part of the brand’s Resort ’17 collection, and is made from twill with “touches of wool.” The style was inspired by “the work of French designer Jean Bouquin, who is famed for dressing the St. Tropez jetset in the ’60s and style icon Brigitte Bardot.”
Kate Middleton + Brigitte Bardot? Talk about a dreamy fashion pairing! We hope to see Kate re-wear this coat again soon.
