After Kate Middleton wore this wine red Marchesa dress, it sold out immediately

Last night in London, Kate Middleton wore a breathtaking oxblood gown by Marchesa, captivating attendees at the Opening Night Royal Gala performance of 42nd Street, the musical. Her gown, from Marchesa Notte’s resort 2017 collection, features a beautiful honeycomb print and an illusion neckline — and it sold out the moment Middleton was spotted wearing it.

The color — a beautiful, deep wine shade — is one Middleton has been loving lately. She was seen carrying an oxblood Chanel handbag in France earlier this month, and donned a coat in a similar shade to attend Christmas Day church service with her family last year.

Last night’s gown took the bold, red shade into new, more formal — and fabulous — territory.

The gown, which retails for a cool $1,195, sold out online immediately from both Net-a-Porter and Saks Fifth Avenue, proving once again how much power Middleton has to move the consumer fashion world.

In the past, clothing seen on her children, Prince George and Princess Charlotte, has sold out almost instantly, too. The coat Prince George wore alongside his mother to Christmas Day church service in 2016 — an adorable gray peacoat boasting velvet trim and buttons from English brand Pepa & Co. — sold out in less than 24 hours.

And when Middleton wore a black-and-white polka dot maternity dress by ASOS back in 2015, priced at an extremely accessible $44, it sold out online within 30 minutes. In a sweet nod to Middleton, ASOS has renamed the dress the “Kate Wrap Skater Dress,” though it’s still sold out.
