Kate Middleton makes a very convincing case for tweed skirt suits
It’s not the first time we’ve seen her don a sleek look like this, but Kate Middleton’s most recent tweed skirt suit has us rethinking our workwear wardrobe. Because really, who needs trousers when you can look like a boss in a sharp pencil skirt?
The Duchess wore a two-piece Rebecca Taylor blue skirt suit to the opening of a new 59-room housing facility for families of sick children at Evelina London Children’s Hospital this week. The look was appropriately professional, and equally stylish.
Tweed suits have become Middleton’s go-to for daytime outings of late. She wore a kelly green ensemble to visit with children at East Anglia’s Children’s Hospices in January, and earlier this month she was spotted in a five-year-old burgundy skirt suit by Paule Ka.
Her most recent suit, though, perfectly matches her sapphire engagement ring — and we’re swooning.
We’re particularly fond of the ruffles on Middleton’s skirt; they’re subtle, yet add movement and interest to her silhouette. And the peplum on the back of her jacket takes this look to another level — it’s so modern, yet so elegant.

Back in 2012, Middleton donned a strikingly similar Rebecca Taylor ensemble to an event celebrating the Scott-Amundsen Centenary Race To The South Pole. She looked elegant in navy blue, and again paired her suit with matching suede pumps and a clutch in the same shade.
We’re 100% on board with this look and are seriously considering a new wardrobe of tweed skirt suits. Thanks, Your Royal Highness!
