Kate Middleton is stunning in baby blue for the Queen’s 90th birthday, because of course she is
Forget the runways of fashion week — all the inspiration we need is over in England. The Queen celebrated her 90th birthday today at St. Paul’s Cathedral in London, and while Queen Elizabeth was the woman of the hour, Kate Middleton was also turning heads thanks to her breathtaking blue coatdress.
The dress, designed by Catherine Walker, is as delicate as it is modest, pale blue with white lace detailing up the center. It’s very similar to the designer’s other sturdy wool coatdresses, which can all be found on her website. Kate isn’t the first royal to sport this designer: Catherine Walker’s website shows an image of Princess Diana dolled up in one of her creations way back when.
The Duchess accessorized this wonderfully simple outfit with a white pillbox hat by Jane Taylor and some gorgeous nude heels.
This getup is perfect for a day of celebration, since after the ceremony in the Cathedral, the family headed to Buckingham Palace for a lunch for the Governors General of all Commonwealth Realms, according to Us Weekly. We can’t wait to see what the rest of the weekend has in store, since the celebration of the Queen’s birthday (which actually occurred on April 21) will be honored at the annual Trooping the Colour ceremony on Saturday, and again on Sunday for the Patron’s Lunch.
Let’s be honest, though, can anything really top this?
