Kate Middleton quietly donated her hair to kids in need under a fake name
Kate Middleton is all about giving back. The Duchess of Cambridge reportedly made a special donation to children with cancer — and it wasn’t financial. Instead, she apparently donated her hair to the Little Princess Trust after a recent cut.
Like Pantene’s Beautiful Lengths program and Locks of Love, the Little Princess Trust helps create wigs for children suffering from hair loss due to chemotherapy treatments or other illnesses. They provide hair for those up to 24 years of age.
The Little Princess Trust website stated that they heard about Kate Middleton’s donation after the fact and released a statement thanking her, “from one princess to another.”
"We are so very grateful to every single person who kindly supports the charity in this way. As the Duchess of Cambridge is so much in the public eye, we hope the message that the charity can help children and young people with hair loss will reach everyone who might need our assistance," said Monica Glass, the Charity Manager of the organization. "Receiving a free, real hair wig has a very positive impact on a child or young adult at such a difficult time. We hope that this donation will encourage others to consider supporting the charity in the same way."
The Sunday Express reported that Middleton made the donation in private, using a name that’s not her own. They also said that in total, Middleton donated seven inches of hair.
The idea of a donation reportedly came to Middleton after she and her stylist were contemplating a shorter cut.
Donating hair to these kinds of organizations is an incredible gesture that directly impacts someone’s life for the better. We have a feeling Middleton’s donation will inspire many a copycat…and that’s a beautiful thing.
