Kate Hudson says dieting is a “bummer” and we couldn’t be more here for that
Nobody can argue that Kate Hudson has a passion for fitness. The Almost Famous actress has long been an advocate for healthy living (not to mention her own workout clothing line). And on a recent episode of Chelsea Handler’s Netflix talk show,Chelsea, Hudson spoke frankly about dieting — and how when you get right down to it, it’s a real “bummer.” Her words, not ours, though we couldn’t agree more.
Reminiscing about being pregnant with her first child, Hudson got real on the intense pressure to lose weight as soon as she gave birth. “All of a sudden you have the baby and then all of a sudden you’re 70 lbs. overweight,” Hudson said. “Then all of a sudden you feel very scrutinized, then all of a sudden you feel like you need to hurry up and [lose the weight],” she added.

So what prompted the actress to get into fitness mode and lose the baby weight? Ultimately it wasn’t a role or public opinion, but her health. Her doctor advised her that carrying around so much excess weight was dangerous for someone with such a tiny frame. With that reality check, Hudson decided to commit herself to taking care of her health.
And luckily, the actress has a solid network of support in the form of longtime loyal friends. Her BFF Gwyneth Paltrow is a self-confessed health nut, and the person Hudson turns to when looking for advice on everything from liver cleanses to parenting problems, she told Handler.
But at the end of the day, Hudson’s inspiration came from within. She wanted to feel good about herself, confident in her body, and healthy in her lifestyle. Those are the reasons she was able to commit to — and stick to —a workout and eating plan that’s more a lifestyle, instead of some crash diet. So take a page from Kate Hudson’s book and focus less on a temporary solution and more on looking at your health as a lifelong investment. After all, does anyone really like dieting?
