Kate Hudson is wearing a colonial polka dot dress at the 2018 SAG Awards
Red carpet fashion is always a highlight of awards season for us. But this season kicked off with an untraditional start: Stars came together and wore all black to the 2018 Golden Globe Awards in solidarity with the #MeToo movement. The dress code provided a sobering (and poignant) reminder of the industry’s history of sexual misconduct. That said, it was exciting to see color return to the red carpet at the 2018 SAG Awards. And no one brought their fashion A-game like Kate Hudson.
Hudson wore a ruffled, cotton-candy pink gown dotted with black hearts. The floaty dress featured a black lace high neckline and a black ribbon tied around the waist. The effect was bold, playful, and totally head-turning—somehow combining the best of period Renaissance dress, The Little House on the Prairie, and Madonna in the ’80s.
Hudson presented a SAG award with her mother, Goldie Hawn, who wore a complementary light blue one-shoulder dress.
Hudson’s gown is from Valentino’s 2018 Pre-Fall collection. The fashion at the SAG Awards can be unpredictable (case in point: Millie Bobbie Brown’s sequin dress paired with Converse sneakers). So we love that Hudson’s dress felt feminine and edgy all at once. And it looked amazing with the blond pixie cut she’s been rocking. Hudson looks simply regal, and like she has to have fun with her clothes.
This dress is proof positive that Hudson likes to have as much fun with her wardrobe as we do.
You can tell she doesn’t take herself too seriously, and that’s pretty amazing. More outfits like this, please!
