Sorry, but Kate Hudson Doesn’t Think Andie and Ben Are Living Happily Ever After RN

How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days is one of those movies that never gets old, no matter how many times we watch it. It’s tossed in the car during road trips, makes a reoccurring appearance at girls nights in, and also pairs well with a glass of wine post-getting dumped. Andie Andersen and Ben Barry’s love story is hilarious, adorable, and totally unrealistic—aka the ideal rom-com narrative. Of course, we all know Andie and Ben end up together after that intense motorcycle-taxi chase over the Manhattan Bridge (swoon), but the real-life Andie, Kate Hudson, thinks that after the duo rides off into the sunset on Ben’s bike, it wouldn’t be all love ferns and flirty games of Bullshit ahead.

In a recent interview with Elle, the actress revealed her idea of how the classic characters’ story plays out post-film—and it’s actually something she’s given a lot of thought to.

“I’ve always thought about what Matthew and I’s characters would be now, if we were still together,” Hudson told Elle. “It’s actually probably a good amount of time [that has passed] to make a movie about it.”

We probably would have gotten married with kids. We’re probably miserable right now!

Excuse us, Kate, but have a little faith in our favorite couple! Does she not remember how good Ben was with his sister’s kids when they visited Long Island? Maybe she’s caught up on the creepy children (Benny Jr. and Andie Jr.) yodeling in the family album her character made in the film—we’d be scared of a future life with them, too, TBH.

Hudson’s predictions for the couple didn’t stop there, though. The actress envisions a successful career for her journalist character, and we have to agree with her on this one.

“I think Andie Anderson is ambitious, and she was wanting to go places, and she was sort of stuck in this job. I loved what we created with that movie,” Hudson said. “And she found love that would support her ambitions. Andie would probably be running something at this point.”

Andie would totally be a boss businesswoman in the future, just like Hudson IRL. And is it good that Andie and Ben are still together in Hudson’s future scenario, miserable or not? The jury is out on this one.

But don’t think we’re going to forget her comment about enough time passing to make another movie about these characters—we’re manifesting this sequel! Until then, we’ll be singing “You’re so Vain” for the rest of the day.
