Kat Von D shares her trick of wearing two lipsticks at the same time
Finding the perfect lipstick color can sometimes require a little bit of creative thinking. The shade of your dreams may not lie in just one tube, but TWO. In an interview with Into the Gloss, Kat Von D revealed one of her tricks to getting the perfect hue: layering lipstick. Kat says she usually switches between red and nude shades, going for the latter when she wears a smoky eye. “Right now I’m wearing two colors at once, Lolita and Lolita II, like a really subtle ombré,” Kat explained.
These two lip colors, which are from her best-selling Everlasting Liquid Lipstick collection, are both mauve shades. Lolita is described as a chestnut rose, while Lolita II has more of a terracotta hue. Here she is showing off another look combining Lolita with Witches, a black shade from her line.
While doubling up on lip colors isn’t anything new — makeup artists and lipstick aficionados have been doing it for years — Kat’s tip is a good reminder that if you’re in need of a little bit of lipstick inspo, you can easily play around with what you already have. You are an artisté and your lips are a palette!
