Kanye West gives rambling monologue on “Ellen,” says he “wants to take away bullying”

Kanye West is back y’all. He went on the Ellen show where he delivered his latest “rant.” Rant probably isn’t the best word, but rather OPUS or MISSION STATEMENT. Kanye West may be eccentric, and yeah, he tends to cut people off at awards shows and sympathizes with Bill Cosby (neither of which are okay) but there is a very huge part of Kanye West that genuinely wants to change the world, regardless of how misguided his actions can be or appear.

Kanye and Ellen are legitimately friends and have this standing agreement that he can come on her show any time and deliver his realness. This time, the realness ranged from saying he wants to end bullying by making cooler clothes cheaper so a child will never be bullied for wearing what their parents can afford. He also called himself “Wacko Kanye” and suggested he’s never going to be appreciated until he’s dead.

Say what you want about Kanye West, but in that 8 minutes on Ellen he laid out some pretty insightful stuff.

-“Picasso is dead. Steve Jobs is dead. Walt Disney is dead. Name somebody living that you can name in the same breath as them?

-“I feel that if I had more resources, I could help more people. I have ideas that can make the human race’s existence within our hundred years better. Period. Fuck the paparazzi – whatever perception you have of me, starting with the truth, starting with what everyone’s thinking, start there, put some dope shit with it.” false

-“I care about people. My dad lived in homeless shelters less than five years ago, to find out he’s a psych major. My mom was the first black female chair of the English department of the Chicago State University. I was raised to do something, to make a difference.”

-“I didn’t take the Oscars as a joke. It was like, ‘All black actors can talk about the glass ceilings we’ve dealt with – you get your night. Talk about how many times you’ve been blocked from being able to excel.’ I didn’t take it as a joke. It ain’t no joke.

-“Don’t tell me about being likeable. We’ve got 100 years here. We’re one race, the human race, one civilization. We’re a blip in the existence of the universe and we’re constantly trying to pull each other down. Not doing things to help each other. That’s my point.”

-“I’m sitting with Obama, and Leo [DiCaprio]’s talking about the environment, and I’m talking about clothes, and everyone looks at me like, that’s not an important issue. But I remember going to school in fifth grade and wanting to have a cool outfit. I called the head of Payless and was like, ‘I want to work with you.’ I want to take all this information I learned from sitting at all these fashion shows and knocking at all these doors and buying all this expensive clothes, and I want to take away bullying.”

-“There was a time when Michael Jackson couldn’t get his video on MTV because he was considered to be too urban. I have to be Michael Jackson of apparel in order to break open the doors for everyone that will come after I’m gone. After I’m dead. After they call me ‘Wacko Kanye.’

-“Isn’t that funny? That people point fingers at the people who have influenced us the most? They talk the most shit about the people who care the most?”

And finally,

-“I’m sorry daytime television. I’m sorry for the realness.
