Kanye West just announced a new album with Kid Cudi, and Twitter is having a meltdown

In case you haven’t noticed, Kanye West is back on Twitter. Over the past few days, the rapper has blessed us all with his philosophical — and sometimes, slightly cryptic — thoughts, which he has said are excerpts from a forthcoming philosophy book. But today, April 19th, Kanye took a break from his enlightening tweets to drop a huge announcement about a new project he’s working on, known as Kids See Ghost.

In a series of rapid-fire tweets this afternoon, Kanye alerted his fans that he would be releasing a new album with seven tracks on June 1st. And as if that weren’t exciting enough, the rapper followed up with the bombshell that he and Kid Cudi would be forming a group called Kids See Ghost and dropping an album with the same name on June 8th. In true Yeezy fashion, he kept his tweets short and to the point.

“Me and Cudi album June 8th,” he tweeted. “It’s called Kids See Ghost. That’s the name of our group.”

Pitchforkreports that Kanye applied to trademark “Kids See Ghost” in November, so it seems like this collaboration has been in the works for a while now. But little else is known about these upcoming projects, although, according to Rolling Stone, the rapper has been recording in Jackson Hole, Wyoming. Kanye hasn’t released new music since his 2016 album The Life of Pablo.

Kanye’s announcement caused a full-on Twitter meltdown.

As of this writing, the tweet about Kids See Ghost had been retweeted almost 40,000 times and liked more than 100,000 times.

We already can’t wait to hear Kids See Ghost and Kanye’s next solo project. Thankfully, in the meantime, there is plenty of other great new music we can listen to — including Cardi B’s first studio album. June can’t get here soon enough!
