Big Bang Theory’s Kaley Cuoco is about to voice an iconic animated character

The Big Bang Theory may be coming to an end, but star Kaley Cuoco has another iconic role already lined up. The actress will (metaphorically) don Margot Robbie’s famous pink and blue ponytails to voice Batman villain Harley Quinn in a new Harley-centered animated series. The project will launch on DC Universe, DC Entertainment’s new subscription streaming platform, in 2019.

Cuoco announced the news at New York Comic Con Wednesday, October 3rd, while giving viewers a sneak peek into the show’s characters. The series follows Harley as she breaks things off with the Joker and tries to make it on her own as the amoral queen of Gotham City. In the teaser video, Harley is portrayed as exuberant and off-beat, with Poison Ivy as her deadpan counterpart. It’s a silly, fourth-wall-breaking clip that pokes fun at DC’s many critics.

"Everyone on my show is gonna have fun or I will bash their f*#king heads in!" Quinn shouts at one point, before being interrupted by "buzzkill" Batman.

And as if that weren’t enough, Cuoco will executive produce the 26-episode series alongside Justin Halpern, Patrick Schumacker, and Dean Lorey. The cast also has some familiar faces (er…voices), including Lake Bell, Alan Tudyk, Ron Funches, JB Smoove, Jason Alexander, Wanda Sykes, Giancarlo Esposito, and more.

As for Margot Robbie fans, don’t worry: The actress isn’t abandoning her role. She’s slated to star in a Harley Quinn “female-centric” standalone film—helmed by a female director no less.
