Kacey Musgraves Has a New Breakup Hair Color Change
She meant “lighten up, buttercup” literally.
Just a few weeks after announcing she’d split from husband Ruston Kelly, Kacey Musgraves debuted a brand-new hair color change on Instagram, ditching her signature deep brunette hue for something a lighter and brighter.
Musgraves showed off her new hair color in a series of selfies on her Instagram Stories on Thursday, July 16th, which were then captured by fan accounts. On the photos, she noted that hairstylist Giovanni Delgado gave her some warm, honey-hued highlights: “My MANE man @giovannidelgado worked his magic on me yesterday.” In another shot, she called her Nashville-based hair guru “El Maestro de Estilo” (which loosely translates to “the master of style”).
Musgraves captioned her light brown hair color reveal with “lighten up, buttercup.”
The look is a striking change for the Golden Hour singer, who has stuck to a deep brunette color—except when playing Barbie at the campy Met Gala. But fans of her signature mile-long strands need not worry because her mermaid layers and curtain bangs seem to be sticking around with new, lightened-up hue.
Changing up your hair after a big life change is a tale as old as time, and while the country crooner didn’t specify what prompted her new look, there’s truly no better way to usher in a new era than by shaking up your go-to look and trying on a new hair color for size.
She seems to be loving her new look, sharing a couple of car selfies that show off her warm, caramel highlights flawlessly.
