Justin Timberlake opened up about how becoming a father influenced his music and it’ll hit you in the feels
When he isn’t getting into trouble snapping pictures in voting booths, Justin Timberlake is actually an incredible popstar, husband, and father.
While we’re just getting over the singer’s partner, Jessica Biel, and her hilarious dig at her husband’s voting booth faux pas, and the couple’s cute AF date nights, it seems that Justin has been chatting all about his new music and now our excitement levels are seriously rising.
Sitting down with with Variety, Justin, who is currently shooting a film with Woody Allen in New York, opened up about his long awaited new album, the collaborators, and what’s been inspiring him (which, btw, is so totally adorable).
Firstly the singer spoke about how his life has changed since having a baby and it’s hitting us in the feels.
"My life has changed and is changing. So it’s important to discover that there’s work you can do where you get more time with your family," he explained. "I wouldn’t go on tour next week, because I wanna be with my son. I wanna be with my wife. What does touring even look like for me now? It’s such a luxury to be able to make those decisions: to be able to think about how you could do the work you used to do in a different way."
Omg, this is too sweet. It’s so great to see Justin putting his family first and, as he says, it’s wonderful that he knows that it’s a luxury that he’s able to do that.
However, fatherhood hasn’t only changed the way that Justin approaches the logistics of his career.
Expanding on how his worldwide smash “Can’t Stop the Feeling” came about, JT explained that it was all down to his son, Silas.
"I do think that song came together the way it did because I’d had a son at that point," he said. "It’s the sort of thing where you realize, ‘Man, there’s nothing wrong with putting some good vibes in the world.’ Like, ‘Hey, you over there trying hard to act like you don’t care, that sounds exhausting.’

Justin also revealed that he’d been working in the studio with frequent collaborators Timberland, Pharrell Williams, and Max Martin, who worked with Justin on “Can’t Stop the Feeling.”
Describing his new music as “more singular,” Justin warned that there wasn’t a release date set in stone, however.
"I think everyone I’m working with right now knows that I’m notorious for being like, ‘Yeah let’s work. I have no idea when I’ll put it out, though,’" he teased. “I’ll put it out when it’s done — when it feels right.
Pharrell Williams, who is working with Justin on the project, also said that he felt that Justin was being more personal and self-reflective on this new material.
"For the biggest pop stars in the world, the place where they have the most trouble is honesty. It’s hard for them to know that the beauty of a record, the sweetest spot in the song, is where they show vulnerability," the super producer said. "But if you’re able to really screenshot your own vulnerability, and frame it properly, and color-correct it, then it becomes something that every human can relate to. And I think Justin is in the place where he’s mastering that right now."
Eek! This makes us so excited to hear what Justin Timberlake has been cooking up in the studio. The singer hasn’t released an album since 2013’s double record The 20/20 Experience, and, by the sounds of it, becoming a parent and his family has really influenced the places he’s writing from. So. Exciting!
