Justin Bieber just broke this incredible music record, and we’re not too surprised

If you needed confirmation that he is the biggest popstar in the world right now, Justin Bieber just broke this incredible chart record, and it’s actually super well deserved.

You don’t get to be as famous as Justin Bieber without inspiring some pretty outlandish rumors. Whether it’s who you might be collaborating with, who you might be dating, or whether you’re actually a giant reptile, things are bound to come up about yourself that make you go, “Huh!?”

One thing that is for certain, however, is that, when it comes to music, Justin Bieber know his way around a hit (or two, or three, or four).

Proving this point is the recent news that the Biebs just made chart history.

According to Billboard, Justin Bieber has become the first act in history to ever have number-one songs in back-to-back weeks. The singer reached the top spot last week with DJ Khaled, Lil’ Wayne, Quavo, and Chance the Rapper with “I’m the One.” The track debuted straight at the summit on the Billboard Hot 100 following its release, and it’s totally on track to become on the songs of the summer.

And this week, Bieber has hit the top spot once again. The singer jumped on a remix of Luis Fonsi and Daddy Yankee’s “Despacito,” which is currently the biggest song in the world right now. Last week, it was streamed a staggering 54.3 million times in the U.S. alone.

Bieber isn’t the first artist to surpass himself at number one on the chart. Taylor Swift managed the feat when “Blank Space” overtook “Shake it Off” back in 2014, and Billboard reports that the Beatles previously held the record for the quickest succession of number-one singles. But Bieber is the first to land two number-one songs in two consecutive weeks.

Following the announcement of the news, Biebs had one simple message to the people of the world…

"Thank you."

The star did, however, go on a massive selfie spree, sharing eight variations of the same picture of his face on Instagram.

Given how hard JB works, we’re super happy for him for breaking this record, and we’re sure that, as his career continues, he’ll only continue to smash it.
