Whoa: Justin Bieber covered Tupac and we can’t stop listening

Who ever thought a day would come where Justin Bieber and Tupac’s names would be mentioned in the same sentence? It’s a bit of a difficult concept to grasp, yet it’s even more proof that 2016 will go down as one of the strangest years on record. During a Live Lounge session for BBC Radio 1, Bieber covered 2Pac’s “Thugz Mansion” with a smooth, acoustic spin that almost prompted us to head nod just a little bit. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1RHfrs115js

Touchy ‘Pac fans will be happy to know that just as he did with his “Hotline Bling” cover, Bieber didn’t miss a beat as he rapped the song and sang the chorus. However, there were critics who voiced concerns about the quality of his performance, which prompted him to issue an apology on Twitter.

“I don’t usually get nervous but tonight I was thrown off and I was,” he wrote. “Sorry about that. Really wanted to be my best. Hope u all had fun.”

Bieber also covered Tracy Chapman’s “Fast Car,” which was obviously a huge departure from his first selection: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-yrScagGtck

The Biebs also sang a few of his hit songs including, “What Do You Mean?” “Love Yourself,” “Let Me Love You” and “Cold Water,” but we have to give him props for taking on covers from two huge artists.
