This just in: Justin Timberlake is about to do a total music 180

After Justin Timberlake went a little bit country, dueting with Chris Stapleton in a totally incredible CMA performance, it seems like country may be a genre he wants to chill in for a little while. And we are NOT complaining, he has got the chops.

Timbaland, who is out promoting his new autobiography and his work on Empire as music producer, hinted to TMZ that he and J. Timb may get their sexy back and their country on for JT’s next album. When asked if they were working on some country music he replied:

“I gotta tap into country. I’m already posted up in Nashville. I don’t discriminate against any genres. I love it all.”

In the interview Timbaland was also quick to point out these two guys are country. “We are country: He’s from Tennessee, I’m from Virginia. It’s only right that we try to tap into what we was raised in. And we was raised in the country. That’s who we are.”

Justin may have been making those moves already. One of the songs he performed at the CMAs was his track “Drink You Away,” which he released to country radio in the week after the awards show, Billboard reported.

If we dive into the past, Timberlake was actually performing country music way before the Stapleton duet. Need proof? How ’bout this 1990s talent show vid of Justin singing a Garth Brooks tune.

While we don’t yet have confirmation from Timberlake about this musical transformation, we’re pretty excited by the prospect of it. Heck, maybe we’ll get another Chris Stapleton duet.
