Just Some Awesome Celebrities Who Used to be Roommates
We just discovered something amazing. In the ‘80s, Senator Kirsten Gillibrand and Connie Britton were roommates when they both attended Dartmouth. I can only imagine what their dorm room was like. Did they plaster posters of Madonna, or Lynda Carter as Wonder Woman? Did they have an entire bathroom shelf dedicated to hair spray? Did they throw epic dance parties and rock out to Cyndi Lauper and A Flock of Seagulls?
Connie Britton said, according to the Washington Post, that Gillibrand was “fearless,” and Gillibrand has also stated her former roomie was “determined to take on roles that could serve as positive role models.” What an awesome, inspirational friendship.
This amazing duo made us wonder what other famous celebs happened to room with each other. Here’s what we found:
1. Ryan Gosling and Justin Timberlake
Um, brb, my heart just burst. These beautiful dudes used to live with each other when they were kids. JT told Ellen Degeneres on The Ellen Show, “We actually lived together when we were [11]. So we were probably a little closer than the rest of the kids that were on [The Mickey Mouse Club] just because we had to share a bathroom.” JT adds that, since Gosling’s mom lived in Canada, JT’s mom was his guardian. Awww, stop it you guys. Just stop it.
2. Holly Hunter and Frances McDormand
According to MNN, Holly Hunter and Frances McDormand, two incredibly talented actors, were actually roommates while at the Yale School of Drama. They had such a great bond, they continued living together when they moved to New York and later shared a pad in Los Angeles.
3. Judd Apatow and Adam Sandler
It only makes sense that these two shared an apartment together back when they were total unknowns. I can only imagine (maybe I shouldn’t) the shenanigans that went on in the Apatow-Sandler household.
4. Jonah Hill and Justin Long
Unfortunately, these two didn’t exactly live happily every after. Justin Long said, “We’re still great friends but it got to be like an old married couple. We fought over recycling. He would recycle everything. I would find banana peels and shards of glass in the recycling bins. . . It was time for a separation.” Sometimes these things just happen, right?
5. Owen Wilson and Wes Anderson
Did you ever wonder why Owen Wilson is in almost every single Wes Anderson film? It’s because they were roomies! They met in a playwriting class in the University of Texas, and decided to live together. Rumor has it, Anderson totally wrote a term paper for Wilson. Busted.
6. Amy Smart and Ali Larter
These ladies met in Italy, where they were working on modeling projects. Since they both wanted to transition into acting, they decided to rent a place together in LA.
7. Sherry Stringfield and Parker Posey
Even though these two gals seem like total opposites, Stringfield and Posey were actually roommates when they attended SUNY Purchase. Absolutely cray.
8. Hillary Clinton and Janet Hill
When Hillary attended Wellesley, her roommate was none other than Janet Hill, big-time corporate director, attorney and mother to NBA rockstar Grant Hill. To this day, the two members of the class of ’69 remain friends. In fact, Forbes speculates, if Hillary runs for president, they could end up working together down the road. Talk about power roommates.
