We just added a word to the dictionary, really!

Dictionary.com has been there for us through the good times and the bad, cheering us on through every vocab quiz and book report. Now, it’s time for us to give back to them. Dictionary.com came to HelloGiggles a few weeks ago with a proposition: on November 23rd, HelloGiggles can pick the Dictionary.com national “Word of the Day.”

After much deliberation, we narrowed our options down to one: splendiferous, a whimsical adjective meaning “splendid,” “magnificent,” or “fine.” (Not in the “I’m fine” sort of way, but more in the “that Dictionary.com Word of the Day is looking fineeee.”)

It was a tough decision— quixotic and skulduggery were also in the running — but we settled on “splendiferous” because it fits with our goal to spread positivity to the world. It was also once uttered by the great Sir Ian McKellen (really), which doesn’t hurt.

Have a splendiferous day!
