The OG Jurassic Park cast just revealed who will be back for the new Jurassic World movie
Paging ’80s and ’90s babies, get ready to relive your childhood. (Or, if you’re like us, to revisit the origins of a deep and abiding crush on Jeff Goldblum.) The original stars of 1993’s Jurassic Park are coming back. Laura Dern, Sam Neill, and Jeff Goldblum are set to reprise their roles as the doctors Ellie Sattler, Alan Grant, and Ian Malcolm, respectively, in Jurassic World 3, the franchise’s upcoming sixth installment. They’ll join Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard, who starred as Owen Grady and Claire Dearing in Jurassic World and Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom.
Jurassic World and Jurassic World 3 director Colin Trevorrow and Dr. Ellie Sattler herself revealed the huge casting news last night, September 24th, during the Q&A portion of a special Jurassic World screening in LA. Later, Dern posted an Instagram confirming her impending return to the beloved but hellacious dinosaur-infested world.
“Loved joining my buddy, Colin, to announce the return of the original cast of Jurassic Park back into the Jurassic World,” Dern captioned her photo.
This isn’t the first time the original stars have revived their roles. Neill starred in 2001’s Jurassic Park III, in which Dern made a cameo. Goldblum appeared in 1997’s The Lost World: Jurassic Park, and briefly again in last year’s Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom.
Still, Jurassic Parkers are predictably excited to see their favorite paleobotanist, paleontologist, and Chaos Theorist together again.

Can you imagine the eyewear + khaki SERVES we’re about to get from Laura Dern in #JurassicWorld3? The legendary Miss Ellie Sattler hasn’t truly returned unless her wardrobe comes with her. pic.twitter.com/hH9Ex9Wclj

Official plot details haven’t been revealed, but Trevorrow has hinted that Jurassic World 3 will harken back to its early-’90s roots in more ways than its central casting.
“Jurassic World 3 will be a science thriller in the same way that Jurassic Park was,” he said in a 2018 interview with Entertainment Weekly. OG Jurassic Park director Steven Spielberg is also on board to executive produce Jurassic Park 3.
Paleontology nerds, mark your calendars: Jurassic World 3 is slated for release on June 11, 2021. As long as Jeff Goldblum takes his shirt off again, we’re all in.
