The producer of “Jurassic World 2” says working with Jeff Goldblum was a “highlight,” and duh!
While you may think getting to pretend dinosaurs are back in the world was the best thing about making Jurassic World 2, one of the movie’s producers, Colin Trevorrow, has said that working with Jeff Goldblum was by far the biggest highlight. (Naturally.)
In case you missed it, The Hollywood Reporter revealed that Jeff Golblum would be taking some time away from surprising us with food trucks, and had signed up to reprise his iconic Jurassic Park character Ian Malcolm for the upcoming Jurassic World sequel. Of course, this prompted many people to make the same joke…that life — and Jeff Goldblum — finds a way.
Well, during an episode of the Happy Sad Confused podcast, Jurassic World 2 producer Colin Trevorrow opened up about what it was like to work with Goldblum on the new movie, and we couldn’t be more excited for the return of Ian Malcolm.
Trevorrow said that when he began working on the movie, he drew upon Jurassic Park author Michael Crichton’s dialogue, and explained how working with Goldblum was “[m]aybe one of my highlights of this whole process.”
"Jeff Goldblum called me – and I’m not going to do an impression – but he was like, ‘Look, I’ve added a couple of things, and I thought I’d perform it for you,'" Trevorrow said, laughing. "So, we sat on the phone for an hour as he ran these lines, and I talked about it. And, I mean, that’s – it was almost better than being there on set. It was great.
Trevorrow, who is also set to direct the final installment of the current Star Wars trilogy, also spoke about how the second Jurassic World movie would differ from the first.
“It’s just deeper, more character-based, and it definitely leans into suspense, especially in the second half… It does have the big action in the middle. There’s a sequence in the middle that I’ve been watching – I mean, I watch dailies every day – but I’ve started to see stuff come together, and it’s just insane,” he teased. “I apologize to those who thought they were never gonna need to see another Jurassic World movie, because I think J.A. Bayona is gonna prove [them] wrong.”
Unfortunately, it seems we have a little bit of a wait until Jurassic World 2 hits screens. The movie has a release date of June 22nd, 2018, which is still over a year away.
In the meantime, then, we’re going to need someone to make this movie that Twitter came up with where Jeff Golblum and Stanley Tucci are husbands (and also possibly chefs or spies). It’s got instant classic written all over it. Although, tbh, any Goldblum fix is good with us.
